Sao Tome and Principe Weather & Climate The islands are hot and humid all year round with average temperatures of 27C. There are two rainy seasons – the short rains in October and November and the long rains from February to May. During the rainy seasons it can become hot and muggy with heavy downpours interspersed by clear blue skies. A dry season lasts from June to Sptember.

December and January are wonderful for birding as birds adopt bright breeding plumage. Trekking is best in the long dry season. From mid-November to early February turtles nest on the beaches, and you can watch the eggs hatching 45 days later.
